Saint Cyprien

St. Cyprien is located in the Black Perigord (central southern region of the Dordogne). We arrived by plane in Bordeax, and then drove through Bergerac (the capital of the Purple Perigord - which is the southwestern region of the Dordogne) to St. Cyprien the day we arrived. We ate dinner at the 1 starred Michelin restaurant, Manoir de Bellerive, which was nice, but not fabulous (meal or service). Dana had fun buying food at the markets and butchers and doing a lot of cooking while we were there. There is very little English spoken in St. Cyprien! We stayed for 7 nights at the charming farmhouse of Karen and Perry Jones (who kindly donated their residence to the PONCHO wine auction last November). From here, we ventured out to Brantome, Perigueux, Sarlat, Domme, Le Roque Gageac, Chateau De Castlenaud, La Roque St. Christophe, Les Eyzies, Beynac and Marqueyssac. We tried to visit the Font du Gaume and Grotto des Combarelles (two prehistoric cave sites just outside of Les Eyzies), but tickets were sold out! After our visit here, we drove back towards Bordeaux, to stay in St Emilion.
